Picture overload city continues in this ode to London.
In an attempt to make sense of all of these pictures, I'm going to split them into sections starting with the London Eye.
She's a beaut!
Casey and I sporting our amazing new hats on the London Eye! We totally look like Londoners, right? Right?!!
A little side view fanciness for you.
The view from the Eye was amazing. It was one of my favorite things we did in London. :)
And we even got a little blue sky :)
Next up, the changing of the guards and Buckingham Palace.
I don't know what I thought the changing of the guards meant, but it wasn't even close to what it really is. They basically stand on their horses looking at each other for a r-e-a-l-l-y long time, and then they trot down the street to Buckingham Palace and switch places with the other guards. They're very disciplined, and it was fun to watch, but I kinda felt bad for the horses. What's new.
Funny cop hat :)
Buckingham Palace.
Our cabbie told us the queen was in Scotland for Christmas. You can tell when she's in the palace and when she's not by the number of flags flying. It was complete madness closer to the palace, so we just admired it from afar.
Crazy wind-rain hair and a sliver of the palace.
Casey and his pops :)
Next up, the Royal Albert Hall and Christmas Eve Christmas carols.
This place was unbelievable! It's definitely the most beautiful musical venue we've seen (after Red Rocks, says Casey), and the show was amazing. It was a Christmas extravaganza with a choir and a symphony orchestra dressed in their finest 18th century suits, wigs and all. It was such a fun night of listening to amazing musicians and singing Christmas carols, definitely got us in the Christmas spirit.
It was built in 1871. Can you tell? Everyone awesome has played here from the Beatles to Adele to Jay Z. It's basically where all the cool people hang out.
Christmas carols at Royal Albert Hall = best Christmas Eve ever.
On to Westminster Abbey.
Westminster Abbey was incredibly beautiful. We originally planned to go to Christmas service there, but we slept in and basically had only one day left to see the sights. Our choices were go to a one hour Christmas service after waiting 2 hours in line or see the rest of the city. We chose the latter.
I can only imagine what it looks like on the inside if it's this beautiful on the outside.
And finally, we leave you with our London randoms.
The cutest little breakfast place there ever was,
and our gigantic English breakfast.
On our way to the Roald Dahl Museum!
A little piece of Denver in London :) :) :)
Funny taxis
Family pic :)
A touristy phone booth photo in our hats!
Some old clock.
Our amazing host
These lions were awesome! They were made from canons from the French and Spanish ships after the English kicked their arses. Very innovative recycling idea.
Harrod's.
Abbey Road was INSANE! Crazy fans were everywhere. Honking cars whizzing by. Residents flipping off the crazies. It was a little much for me so we just sprint-walked across the street and made our own Abbey Road pic.
And that's all, friends. I don't even think blogger would allow me to put up another picture if I wanted to. London was incredible, Jerry was the best host, and I can't imagine a better get away from the desert. I would love to go back and see all the things we didn't have time for like the Tower of London and all of the museums. Maybe someday when we're old and gray. I'm keeping my hat just in case :)
Did the bangers work? They are nasty looking
