A Shout-Out to Our Sweet Taxi Driver

Meet Khayal, our favorite taxi driver.

He's from Peshawar, Pakistan.  He works 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, much like many of the other workers in Dubai.  He only gets one week off per year, yet he was the happiest, smiliest guy we've met so far.

He showed us a picture of his son, Muhsan, whom he's only met once because his family still lives in Pakistan.

This story is incredibly tragic to Americans because most of us have never had work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for so little pay, but I think many of the workers in Dubai have the same story.  They move here to work so they can send desperately needed funds home to their families.  They're heroes in a way because they're sacrificing their own lives and happiness for the benefit of their families.  And, most impressing of all, they never think twice.  They're not bitter or unhappy or trudging through the day.  I only wish it was easier for them to have the same opportunities Casey and I are lucky enough to have here.  Maybe it will be someday.

So here's to Khayal and the thousands of others like him!  Thank you for being so kind and for passing on your happiness.
